Growing up on the south side of Chicago, IL April was always focused and dedicated on being a great student and her academics. She matriculated through elementary school at Ted Lenart Regional Gifted Center, then on to Hubbard High School International Baccalaureate program and completed her educational journey at Tennessee State University with a Bachelor of Arts and Sciences in 2008.
She was always told to go to school, get good grades and she would be able to live her dream life with a great job. She accomplished the school part with ease and after college began her corporate career in various positions, finally landing in Human Resources. She enjoyed working in Human Resources but realized she still was not living the dream life.
As a single mother of 1 son at the time, when he began school she realized that working a normal day shift job would cause constant problems coordinating with her sons schedule at school and knew she needed to do something different.
